Quorra Costume Design

I’ve been a Tron fan ever since I was little (my mom says that if she ever wanted me to sit down and shut up when I was a kid, she’d put Tron on!), so needless to say I was quite excited when I saw the trailer for the new Tron Legacy movie.

I’ll leave movie reviewing for another time, but after seeing it twice now, I am bent on making a Quorra costume. (Truth be told I actually decided on making it before I saw the film, but seeing the movie just cemented it for me.) However, Quorra’s costume, like all of the costumes in the Tron Legacy film, is quite complicated. To make matters worse, unlike the rest of the costumes in the film, there doesn’t seem to be any basic front-side-back views of her costume online. So I decided to draw it up myself. I’m sure I missed something/drew something wrong, but it’s a starting point!

Hey there! I love your concept drawings of the Quorra costume. I am wanting to make one for this halloween.
How many feet of the tape did you use? I am about 5’3.

  2. Sadly, I haven’t made the costume yet (though I’m hoping to by the time Dragoncon rolls around in September). However, the guys over at the Prop Replica Forum are immensely helpful. The thread is about 90 pages long, but it’s chalk-full of knowledge. Best of luck! :)

    One more thing,
those illuminated circles on her costume,
are those a separate piece or do you bend the EL tape?

Thanks for the wonderful drawings. They were extremely helpful when I went to create a version of this costume for an actress I work with. I credited your work in my blog describing the challenges I encountered making this garment, see http://deofsf.com/blog/2011/05/18/creating-a-custom-quorra-costume/

    • I was flabbergasted when I saw your post (and am extremely grateful). I’m glad to know that my scribbles proved to be useful to someone else! (Which the costume looked fantastic, by the way.)

  7. Hi, I’m starting some informal research for my Halloween costume of Quorra and I wonder if you mind if I repost your drawings on my blog? They’re really awesome sketches of her outfit!

    • You’re more than welcome to use them and repost them (as long as you give credit, of course). Best of luck with the costume! I hope it turns out well for you! :)

wow cool design!!…I don’t know if you have plans for the Illumination, but check out “cold cathode” computer lighting…they have some circle shapes for fans and effects and run off of 12v dc also a product called “angeleyes” for car headlights..same lighting but probably more expensive. Alternatively I guess you could make inserts/holders for “glowsticks” as well for a less technical cheaper alternative alloing you to also easily change the color. Wow I’d love to see the finished version! good luck, :)

  10. Hi Briana, your Quorra sketches are beautiful, and I have used it in the process of creating my Quorra Costume. It was instrumental tool that I used to estimate and plan the project out!

I have used your sketches as a reference and foundation, I hope you dont mind.

what did you guys make the top out of, meaning the material of the vest/arms. I am no master when it comes to clothes construction but i can sew. I am not sure what I should use to get the neck line. and I was looking at pictures fromt he movie. I was thinkin of using an underarmor for under and a ticker but not leather vest. Does anyone have any ideas or can tell me what they used, or a brand or anthing. It is the only thing I have having difficulties with :/

    Thank you!!!

    • There’s a large thread on The Replica Prop Forum that has become the be-all-end-all for Tron costuming. If you can’t find an answer there, there’s a ton of folks who’ve done all this from scratch who can help answer questions. Best of luck! :) http://www.therpf.com/f24/tron-legacy-costume-88230/
